Michigan School Privatization Battle
By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | November 29, 2012
Superintendent Rob Glass of the Bloomfield Hills (Michigan) Schools recently posted an urgent call to action to local parents and citizens in response to a package of school privatization bills being hastily pushed through the current “lame duck” session of the Michigan State Legislature.
After reading Superintendent Glass’ call to action, as well as last week’s Detroit Free Press editorial on the matter, my take is this is a sobering warning from a legitimate source. And to the many Wisconsin school administrators, board members, staff and parents that either don’t want to or refuse to believe that the threat of the privatizers is upon us I rhetorically ask, “Is the current Michigan reality a portent of things to come in Wisconsin’s upcoming legislative session?”
