JFC Budget Wrap-Up Delayed Yet Again

Joint Finance will not meet tomorrow as GOP lawmakers continue to grapple with transportation, public financing for a Milwaukee Bucks arena and other issues, a spokesman for Co-chair Alberta Darling said this morning.
The committee had tentatively planned to meet Wednesday. But instead the committee hopes to meet Thursday or Friday this week, Darling’s spokesman said.

Evers Writes Letter to Wisconsin Parents

State Superintendent Tony Evers has written a letter to Wisconsin parents in which he thanks them for their advocacy on behalf of their kids and their public schools. He also encourages them to keep pushing the dialogue about the value of public education in our state. Amen.

Coalition Letter on Participation in Sports and Extracurricular Activities

The SAA, WASB, WIAA, Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance and other coalition partners have submitted to Republican legislative leadership a letter requesting that language in the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) K-12 education omnibus motion relating to participation in school district sports and extra-curricular activities be removed from the state budget proposal.
