Tosa Parents Plan Rally at Sen. Vukmir Event Monday Night
By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | June 8, 2015
Wauwatosa parent group has planned a rally at Senator Vukmir’s listening session in Wauwatosa tonight. The media advisory for the event is pasted below:
June 5, 2015, WAUWATOSA – Moms and dads from Wauwatosa, the home of Gov. Scott Walker, will rally together on Monday, June 8 at 7 pm at the Wauwatosa Public Library at a listening event hosted by Sen. Leah Vukmir (R-Wauwatosa, and Joint Finance Committee member) to voice their disapproval and disbelief about public school funding and policy passed by the state’s Joint Finance Committee (JFC).
Specifically, the group plans to send an “SOS” about the JFC’s plan to give billions in extra taxpayer funding for private schools without increasing funding for Wisconsin public schools.
Additionally, SOS Wauwatosa plans to share its concerns about the funding model for voucher schools, which takes taxpayer funding away from public schools and gives it to private, often-religious schools.
“The legislature is siphoning billions – that’s billions with a ‘b’ – of taxpayer dollars away from our kids’ classrooms and sending it to private schools that are unaccountable to taxpayers,” said Mary Young, SOS Wauwatosa President. “This is the last chance and best moment for parents to ask Sen. Vukmir and Gov. Scott Walker to fully-fund our public schools, not private schools.”

WHEN: Monday, June 8, 7 pm
