Voucher Expansion in Kenosha: Property Taxes Will Rise
By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | March 6, 2013
As you know, Governor Walker’s K-12 budget proposals, if adopted, will initially expand private school vouchers into Kenosha and at least eight other school districts in Wisconsin.
School officials in the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) have produced an analysis of the impact of private school voucher expansion in KUSD.
The bottom line is this: If KUSD has 250 voucher students, district taxpayers would pay an additional $669,750 in property taxes. If there were 500 voucher students, district taxpayers would pay an additional $1,339,500 in property taxes. And, if there were 1000 voucher students, district taxpayers would pay an additional $2,679,050 in property taxes.
Private school voucher expansion means property taxes will rise.
