Governor To Sign Senate Bill 2

By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | January 31, 2012

Governor Walker’s office has informed me that the Governor will sign Senate Bill 2 into law tomorrow morning, February 1st.  As I’m sure you recall, this legislation extends the open enrollment application period from three weeks to three months and also moves the non-renewal date from March 15th to May 15th.

The new law will be effective when the bill is signed by the Governor and published by the Secretary of State.  Although the process of publishing the new law usually takes about 10 business days, in practical terms, once the Governor signs it school leaders can rest assured the new law will be effective by mid-February and can make decisions accordingly.

Upon enactment, the open enrollment application period will run from February 6th to April 30th.
